What you should do first in the event of an accident
Stop at once
Protect the injured and, where possible, ensure safety at the scene of the accident.
If another vehicle is involved
Please do not admit liability, as you should talk to the police or your Toyota Vehicle Insurance representative first. When we send you your policy, we'll also send you an accident report card. Keep it in your glove box. Use it to write down essential information such as the other driver's name, license number, address, vehicle details and the name of the owner's insurance company.
Identify yourself
If someone else was involved give your name, address and registration number of the vehicle to the other party and police if they attend. Also obtain the attending police officer's name. Get the names and addresses of any witnesses to the accident.
Contact the police
Report the accident to the police if it is more than a minor accident involving just your vehicle.
